Profile:

My name is Helen Maddaford and I have been an academy governor for the last few years since Hooe became part of the Horizon Multi Academy Trust.

I became a governor again when I was asked by a member of the Hooe Governing body if I had ever undertaken the role. It didn’t take me long to decide that I wanted to become a governor at Hooe. I have a passion for children and providing the best opportunities. I used to work as an advisory teacher, so I have been working with children and families and helping to support them for many years.

I am currently Vice chair and have sat on numerous committees focused on developing the school to help maintain high standards so children make the best progress. Governors act as critical friends and offer support. I have linked with the teachers and been into school for many visits over the years.

I have a variety of interests and enjoy walking, cooking and going to a craft group. I enjoy supporting the community in which I live and am involved in Church life.

I really enjoy the role of governor and I hope that I bring valuable information and advice from my role in education to this volunteer role. I am happy to talk to parents and look forward to speaking with you if I am in school.
