'Happy, Passionate about learning and Ambitious'
Military information
MKC will be starting again after the February half term.
This will run every Thursday from 12:30 -1pm, and is for EYFS/KS1/KS2 Military children.
It's a drop in session where the children can meet other Military children, chat, play, make cakes and relax in a supportive environment.
Our wonderful MKC created sea creatures pictures using recycled materials.
Not only our Military children but the whole Year 6 class had a visit from Never such Innocence.
The children were shown images of shoes, old, new, and in groups, shoes belonging to victims of war, as well a designer shoes and explained what the images represented, they were asked whether they felt they could walk in the shoes of another person, from a different country or different background.
All of year 6 then designed their own shoes and explained the feelings and thoughts behind them. It was a very thought provoking experience for everyone.
Again our Military children attended Hooe Green to remember forces personnel past and present and lay a cross. Readings from Year 6 children were very moving.
MKC joined classes from Year 6 and 2 for a remembrance service on Hooe Green, we had the privilege of laying down crosses remembering fallen service personnel. The children also have written messages on crosses for service personnel past and present, these crosses were sent to The Field of Remembrance at The National Memorial Arboretum.
A few lucky families were able to attend the Queens Platinum Jubilee.
We had a tour of Plymouth Argyle Stadium, sitting in the dugout, finding out upcoming events at the ground and had a photo opportunity with some of the players, all the children who attended received a medal and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
As part of our MKC some of the children joined other schools from around Devon for a Little Troopers wellbeing workshop.
The children were able to complete activities that highlighted some of the situations Military families face, such as parents being deployed, moving house and schools. Giving help on identifying feelings when these situation arise and strategies to help cope.
All the children involved enjoyed the morning and went home with their packs to read through in their own time and a certificate of their participation.
