Profile:
I am delighted to have joined Hooe Primary Academy as the Chair of Governors for the Academic Year 2025-2026.
I have been a Governor previously at Elburton Primary School where I was a co-opted Governor for 9 years, 7 years as Chair. I decided at the end of last year, that I felt that I had re-paid my debt to the school for the fantastic education that my two daughters received there. We had been through an Ofsted year and received an 'Outstanding' inspection so it felt like a good time to step down leaving the school in a very secure place.
My background is in education, I am a secondary PE and Science teacher and taught in Looe for 9 years before moving to Plymouth as a School Sports Co-ordinator working at Lipson and Hele's. Following the re-structure of National School Sports Partnerships, I was appointed as the Partnership Leader of the Plymouth School Sports Partnership where I have worked since 2013. I am passionate about sports both from playing them (rugby, hockey and netball) and the positive impact they have on the lives of young people.
I live in Hooe and feel a social responsibility to serve my community so I have been delighted to take up this position. I have been warmly welcomed by the Governors, teachers and staff at Hooe Primary Academy and am looking forward to supporting the school in any way I can.
